So besides the fact that I enjoy bad puns and nickelodeon inspired graphics, I also like tie dye. I probably have a faded swirl t-shirt in the back of my closet for every year I went to summer camp. But that hippie spiral is very six grade, not to mention 1960's, so I decided to do a twist on the classic dye job. Or untwist ( yes, I like bad humor).
To spruce up some bland basics I went the Jackson Pollock route, which proved to be creative and also therapeutic. Using Procion fiber reactive dyes I went to work in my back yard, splashing drops of fushia and cyan over my shirt dress and leggings. I used a bunch of broom straws to get the desired splat effect. Check out the results:
Splatalicous!
Splatariffic!

Silk screening my mom was doing.
Mission make-boring-clothes-cool-again-whilst-having-fun-and -creating-blog-material: total success! Now my shirt dress has some much need color and I don't feel nude in my nude leggings. I also successfully revamp a summertime classic of tie dye, sans tie. I do miss the fire side sing-alongs and afternoons out by the pool, but I can settle for some sweet duds.
